Please can you tell me what type of spider this is? It is about 1.5cm long (body) yellow and brown stripes underneath and lives on the edge of my pond in N.Yorks.

It's a Long-jawed Orb-weaver, from the Tetragnathidae family. As for which one of them this is, you'd need a view of the undersidepattern and/or female's epigyne - her sexual organ.
