| | | orb weaver bite Thought i would be brave again today and pic up a little spider, well this spider was to the best of my knowledge a Zygiella x-notata.
After failing to put it out the window because of the wind blowing inwards, i cupped it in my hands and walked to the other end of the building. It bit me! Ok so the bite didn't hurt but it was just the shock factor, i didn't realise these could actually bite... besides it wasn't even that old.
Ok the bite just felt felt like a needle being pressed onto the skin... not a piercing feeling, not even painful at all. It was just a surprise factor. After it bit me i dropped it but soon picked it back up and got it out another window. I inspected my hands a few minutes later and i had 2 red marks on either palm and on the spot where i felt the bite there was 2 very small puncture marks - barely a millimeter between them. Nothing came of the puncture marks and they have almost disappeared, as for the red marks the one just down from the bite looked as if it had 2 identical indents as the bite area, the other mark i don't think is related. |

| | | Re: orb weaver bite Just goes to show that there's every chance of a Steatoda bipunctata being able to bite with it being a 'stockier' spider!
