| | | Possible Spider Bite? Hi there,
I can't find much info regarding spider bites in the UK and I stumbled upon this site, so thought I'd ask some experts!
I woke up on Saturday morning with two quite large red bumps on the back of my leg and they itch like crazy. They are about half a centimeter apart. Yesterday (Sunday) I noticed they have developed white in the middle (kinda like two big pimples!).
Does this sound like it could be a spider bite? I can't think what else it could be.....
I am in the North-West of England and don't really know of any biting spiders in this area....
Thanks for your help :-) |

I just measured using a ruler (hope nobody saw, I'm at work!) and it is exactly half a centimeter between the edge of one red bump and the edge of the other and just over 1cm between the centre of each bump.
I can't take a picture just yet, but I will do when I get home from work and I will upload it.
I haven't checked the bed sheets, it happened at my boyfriend's house so I'll let him deal with it! |

| | | Re: Possible Spider Bite? I think you may have two insect bites that just happen to be close together.

| | | Re: Possible Spider Bite? Oh ok, that makes me feel a bit better. I'm terrified of spiders, so the thought that one may have bitten me was freaking me out somewhat!!
Anybody know what sort of insect it could be? |

| | | Re: Possible Spider Bite? The symptoms you describe sound very similar to a bacterial infection I contracted whilst working for the water board, Lymphangitis, dont mean to alarm you, but if swelling increases and you begin to notice red track marks working their way towards lymph nodes then seek medical advice urgently, i left it for a few days and became pretty ill. You can become infected through working in soils, so if symptoms persist get it checked out. Hopefully, it is an insect or arachnid bite, if so, trying chewing some plantain leaves and applying it to the site of wound, this should take away any pain or itching and will help to disinfect it and repair the skin. |

| | | Re: Possible Spider Bite? No, it's definately not Lymphangitis..... I have no track marks, it isn't painful and I have no fever or anything. It just itches like crazy!
Althought, I think I'd rather it was that than having a spider bite me! lol |
