spider i.d
Can anyone identify this spider please. It was on an area of heath on Anglesey. The grasshopper managed to hop away, the lucky blighter.

Looks like a male Agelena labyrinthica. There would have been a tubular retreat at some point of the web, you don't often get them straying far from the retreat so the grasshopper must've been too tempting.

They're not rare, though not found throughout the country. I've found them on Anglesey and in good numbers where they occur on the Lleyn Peninsula. Most commonly in Gorse bushes.
