| | | Waving spiders. Out in the garden I spotted several spiders on a half gutter.
I watched them for a bit then decided I had to video them as their behaviour was making me smile
I presume the male (smaller) is trying to get friendly with the female?
The original one I was watching would take a step, lift his right antenna, then waggle it, then do the same with the left, moving a step closer.
These were following a similar pattern, but I think this female is more receptive as she waggles back!
I took the video on the wall as the others had moved on by the time I got back. moovees :: waving spiders video by ferretmonsters - Photobucket |

Actually, it is his palps (used during mating) that he is waving.
From the angle of your video, I can't clearly see if the second spider is a female or another male. |

| | | Re: Waving spiders. I think it is a female. The males looked to have stripes on the back and were smaller. The first pair I watched, the male would approach from behind, but the female didn't seem to be impressed and looked to be trying to chase him off, he was persistent tho lol.
These 2 she certainly seemed more receptive.
Knew think it wasn't really antenna but couldn't think of the proper word palps it is.
I haven't a clue when it comes to spiders, but I 'guessed' them to be wolf spiders. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
