| | | spider ID. this one has been languishing in my to be done folder for a while. closest i can get in roberts is frontinellina frutetorum but thats not supposed to be in the UK. i have 2 pictures of it, one from Ruislip Woods middlesex and one from the Blue Pool in Dorset. So i'm assuming i'm incorrect The habit, where they were both found fits the bill though, both on lower branches of trees.
Thanks in advance
Chris

| | | Re: spider ID. It looks very similar to a species I find in one particular wood at this time of the year. Normally hanging under a very fine web.
I have never fully identified it but I believe it to be Neriene peltata. But they are very variable in colouration and I find everyone to be different.
So if the web fits, have a think about N. peltata or possibly N. clathrata; even Linyphia hortensis as a long shot. |

| | | Re: spider ID. Linyphiidae is a large family, and their refusal to adopt a strict 'dress code' does make them difficult to identify. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
