Hi,

I found this beast under bark on a dead log. Not sure of exact length, but it was quite large, 10mm plus.

I'm assuming S. senoculata but have seen some shots of S. bavarica which look very similar. Can anyone confirm one way or the other.

It's definitely Segestria senoculata.
Steatoda bavarica is a rare spider, is larger and has a less well defined pattern on the abdomen. So far it's been found only in coastal locations.
