| | | Philodromus dispar I'm pretty certain this is Philodroums dispar. The palps look similar to the ones illustrated in Roberts for this species.
Anyone agree?

| | | Re: Philodromus dispar It looks like a P. dispar allright. It's clearly subadult; adult males are shiny black. Subadult males are best viewed from the side, so you can see the colour difference between the top and the bottom half of the abdomen (although it is also visible on the carapace).
I recently captured a subadult male and had the pleasure of seeing the metamorphosis. The pictures are on my site: Spiders of the Netherlands: Philodromus dispar

| | | Re: Philodromus dispar Hi frits_b,
I wondered wether it was a sub-adult, but I was unsure. The palps seem to show faint markings matching that of an adult, but it's really the first time I've paid so much attention to the palps / epigyne of spiders. I'm quite pleased I managed to get a picture of the palp!
At least I got the id right this time!
Great website by the way - very useful!
