| | | Unidentified Extremaduran Spider
This flattened little spider lived on a painted wall in Extremadura. Its abdomen was about 5mm in width and it lay perfectly still with its front two legs poised to grab. Any slight movement in front of it resulted in a "grab" attempt. I procured a nice fat aphid for it which it grabbed and, somewhat ungratefully I thought, immediately discarded. Any ideas on its ID, anyone? |

| | | Re: Unidentified Extremaduran Spider I thought from it's general appearance it could be a Hersiliidae species (Tree Trunk spider). No idea which one, I'll have a trawl later to see what it may be.

| | | Re: Unidentified Extremaduran Spider I can only find two species in the Hersiliidae family for Spain, both Hersiliola species - Hersiliola macullulata (Dufour, 1831) and Hersiliola simoni (Pickard-Cambridge.O, 1872).
Only microscopical examination can be 100% reliable.
