| | Spider from Jersey for id  
Please could you help with the id of this spider, photographed at St Ouens, Jersey in Sept 2009. It was small, probably about 10mm long, as you can judge from its position on a Marram Grass flowering stalk. Habitat was heath/grassland near to the sea.

| | | Re: Spider from Jersey for id It's a Zygiella x-notata. In Holland we call it a 'sector-spider' because it leaves one sector of its orb web open.
It's a quite common spider, also found in gardens and even in houses.

Yes, Z. x-notata. Frits - in the UK we call them Missing-sector Orb-weavers for a similar reason!
