Id of Spider on Silchester Common

Hello,

I saw this spider early one morning back in August. It was sitting in a web like a funnel with a wide mouth narrowing to where the spider was sitting. The web was low down in a gorse bush.

Can anyone tell me what it is?

Looks like a labyrinth spider Agelena labyrinthica, one of my favs

Yes I agree. That head, which appears to be too near the ground, is typical for them; and they certainly like gorse bushes. I saw quite a lot of webs on gorse beside the S. Devon Coast Path last summer - but a lot of the spiders saw me first and quickly disappeared into the bottom of their tubes.
