| | | Re: Unidentified stretch spider - 4th Jan 2010 If it wasn't more than 5 mm, coupled with that plain silvery abdomen I would tend to consider T. pinicola as the more likely. But you will need a shot of the sternum to be sure. |

| | | Re: Unidentified stretch spider - 4th Jan 2010 In all probability, T. pinicola is unlikely as it's a Nationally Scarce (Notable B) species. The most commonly found species are T. montana and T. extensa. though obviously without proper examination it's only a guess anyway.

| | | Re: Unidentified stretch spider - 4th Jan 2010 When trying to estimate a spider's size, I try to imagine it compared with a familar object. Possibly a coin or a pencil etc, just use whatever suits you. I normally think 'What size clearance hole would I need to drill to be the same size.
But trying to recall that information the next day is a different matter. |
