| | | Re: Harvestman ID Any other information like size, habitat, time of the year, etc? Also an estimate as to the length of the second leg would help. Any other angles?
As a first guess I would be thinking about Phalangium opilio, especially with those rather spiny femora. But they usually have a darker coloured 'saddle' on their backs; although this isn't always present especially in the males.
Rilaena triangularis is also possible and if the second leg was less than 18 mm Paroligolophus agrestis may be worth a thought.
Best wait for a second opinion from Gordon though.

| | | Re: Harvestman ID Hi Serendipity,
That spikiness... even on the raised eye section... makes me think the rare Opilio parietinus - but best wait for Gordon to have a look!
See http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...021-post7.html
Take care, Jason

The large eyes with raised spinules looks like Rilaena triangularis, I had a female which is pale but had a little more marking on the back.

His photo doesn't show the leg length but does the spikiness - which for me looks OK around the occular tubercle in her picture. As Geoff says the second leg length should be 35-55mm, but you can't see the length of either second leg in her picture as they extend out of frame so I therefor didn't rule it out on that.
Still, Opiliones really aren't my area, so I won't try...
