Spiderlings hatching in November

Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help with a spider query. There has been a spider on the roof of my porch for a couple of weeks now. It is small, about 2 - 3cm long, and dark. I then noticed that there was a small ball of web that it seemed to cling to which I assume is an egg sack. Spiderlings appeared about a week ago. I am confused as I thought that spiders only hatch in the spring and that they all die in the winter? Any help would be appreciated.

Many spiders and spiderlings will overwinter and survive. I imagine that the survival rate for the smaller/younger ones may be pretty poor though as they will be welcome food source for something. When you say they are on your porch roof, I assume you mean the underside/inside? and are therefore in a temperature controlled environment?
They do seem to be hatching and dispersing a little late, though considering the erratic climate and weather we have nowadays and the lack of clear seasons as we once had, it doesn't surprise me.
Only one very mild day last week I couldn't believe the amount of flies and even the odd butterfly that was about.
