| | | Harvestman for ID I found this harvestman on a headstone in the local cemetery. It had several legs missing. Any ideas about its ID would be welcome.

| | | Re: Harvestman for ID Evening A,
I've spent several minutes comparing images - I first had a feeling it was the Red Harvestman Opilio canestrinii - but the colouring doesn't quite seem vivid enough. Comparing it to similar species didn't really help, either! I'd call it an Opilio sp., unless anyone else can go further.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Harvestman for ID Thank you everybody for the rapid response. I am pleased this can actually be identified to sp. I noticed the bifurcated palps were unusual, it this the identifying character? Thank you Bruce for the links to the fantastic photos!

| | | Re: Harvestman for ID You should be able to recognise these at a great distance by there resting position, they have there very long legs stretched out at quarter to three, when you get closer you can see the dark band running through the males eye section, the Zorro mask ... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
