| | | steatoda nobilis? Hi to all this is my first post.
Am i correct in thinking this is a steatoda nobilis? Also how big do they get? This one is only about 2/3 the size of another one at work, unfortunately i can't catch it to get a decent scale picuture. |

Hard to say from that picture.
You always measure spiders excluding their legs (so fangs to spinners) S.nobilis is the largest of the Steatoda sp, knocking in at 14mm (give or take a few mm)

| | | Re: steatoda nobilis? Thanks for the welcome, i'll have to corner the big one it lives on a fork lift at work although its easier said then done its very timid. I would guess it must between 20mm and 25mm not including its legs. That is no exaggeration. It appears to be a good enviroment for spiders, the largest segestria florentina we've found was probably a tad over 45mm but i had no chance of getting that to pose for the camera. |

| | | Re: steatoda nobilis? I agree its definately smaller than the pound coin, although if the coin is 21mm it must be around the 15mm mark? BTW, it wasn't the one in the pic that i was saying was over 20 mm. So the bigger one i guess to be 25mm roughly, i've been off work for 4 weeks so when i get back i'll see if i can get a pic.
