| | | Another spider request please Hello all
Can someone please help identify this spider, I've never seen one like it before. I got bitten by a spider last year and had a terrible reaction to it so I am a bit scared now.
Thank you photo here. |

| | | Re: Another spider request please My initial response would be a Clubiona sp hard to say which as many look similar.
If you're after Id's please give sizes (excluding legs) if you can.
I've lightened and sharpened your image.
As for bites - just treat them with the same respect as you would a wasp or a bee. in most cases their bites shouldn't bother you - no UK native spider has a fatal or close to fatal bite (unless you have an allergic reaction, which its sounds like you might be), but relax it's not interested in you.
If in doubt just scoop it up with a glass or card and move it along - outside will do.

| | | Re: Another spider request please Your a star thank you. The spider is about 10mm body only.
I really do appreciate the reply. Last year I went to a local Pick your own fruit farm where I got bitten on the foot by a later identified Hobo spider. It was extremely painful as my foot swelled up like an elephants foot and I was short of breathe and very scared. I have a new found respect for Spiders now and lots of photos of my foot to remind me to wear wellies. |

| | | Re: Another spider request please Unusual, Tegenaria agrestis ('Hobo spider' is an American term for an aberrant species ) isn't usually aggressive in Europe, though that's not saying that is won't bite, just unlikely.
Guess you were unlucky (depends who ID it?)
Can I ask where you were when you were bitten?

| | | Re: Another spider request please ......................and did you catch and keep the spider fopr an ID? I assume that you did. Spider bites over here are uncommon. The wound is often just a strike with the fangs and probably few cases of envenomation, the main problem is often secondary infection of the bite site.
Your spider is Clubiona as Venger says and is possibly Clubiona corticalis.

| | | Re: Another spider request please Hi,
I live in Hertfordshire and it was on a local fruit farm that I was bitten. The spider must have got trapped in my shoe which I guess is why it bit me. The spiders body was still in the shoe and the A&E department sent it away to be identified.
This is my foot about 30 mins after the bite (camera time was incorrectly set to am)
It steadily got worse and this is my foot 2 hours later steadily getting worse
I was luckily that we got to A&E quickly. It took 3 weeks of anti bios to get better. So thank you for helping me, I hope you can see why I panic now |
