| | | Spidery bedtime pals I don't particularly liike spiders, and just recently our house - which is a converted barn - has been invaded by them. I know they do a good job of pest control, and I don't really like to kill them, but they're beginning to stress me out.
I have been keeping the house as clean as possible, and noticed a slight reduction in my sightings. However, I have had a spider run across me whilst I am asleep twice in the space of a few weeks, and now cannot get any sleep!
Please help! |

Seriously, there is nothing to worry about. Eradicate the spiders and you'll be overrun with less welcome and more noticeable creatures that are actually pests. You'll have some around the windows dealing with airborne pests and those at ground level taking care of pests down there.
And of course they'll only reach a certain level before they'll take care of one another.
As your home is a barn conversion you'll probably find the spider levels will drop before long due to the habitat change imposed upon them.
You could always introduce Pholcus phalangioides (the Cellar spider), they'll police the spider populations nicely, though you'll have to police them .
..............and welcome to Wild About Britain
