White Cross Spider ID please

My garden seems to be overrun with a light brown variety of spider which tend to weave webs in the most awkward places i.e across paths.

The most striking feature of the spiders is that they have a fairly distinct white cross on the back of their body. Guess they tend to be between 5-10mm across the body. Got a very fuzzy photo but so far have been unable to identify.

Sounds very like Araneus diadematus, Garden spider.

Also White Cross prams were made in Guiseley, Nr. Leeds until comparatively recently.
