| | Can you help Identify this spider 3/4 mm across the abdomin and dark brown. It's all in the image really but it's is quite attractive and I would love to put a name to it.

No.9 Spider | Thanks for the fast reply.
No more photo's I'm afraid as it dived back behind an old notice board when the flash fired but I will try again after dark tonight. How common is it as I have not seen one before?

Also check Steatoda nobilis. The Updated Distribution Maps - British Arachnological Society
No.9 Spider

| | Re: Can you help Identify this spider 3/4 mm across the abdomin and dark brown. I believe the Steatoda grossa is the most likely I have some more images but the spider is very shy of any light though it was feeding this time.I checked Steadota nobilis and it seems too patterned to suit
Two more images that might help but looking at images on goggle I think Steatoda grossa most likely.

Second thought after looking at distribution map, should British Arachnological Society know about this sighting and if so will you do the reporting? A private mail here perhaps to get an referance or post code. |

| | | Re: Can you help Identify this spider 3/4 mm across the abdomin and dark brown. Thanks all, I have been surprised at the speed and and amount of assistance I've received here This is my first post but be assured not my last.
The spider live on happily eating woodlice and the odd queen wasp (well just the one,) and I have stopped shining lights on it.
