The very hungry spider.
Came across this crab spider on Hothfield Common a few weeks back. This must be like a human eating a 12 foot long sausage that's the width of a roll of carpet! Hope it had the Rennies handy!

My friend and I were looking at some large garden spiders the other day and wondering how big one would have to be to make a meal out of one of us. Not that big judging by your photo

Yes it is amazing what they will tackle; and quite fierce prey like bees etc as well. But I suppose as they just suck out the fluids then discard the tough bits it becomes a bit more credible.

They're definitely not scared about attacking massive prey. This is a big one I found in northern Spain that had subdued a chunky bumblebee:
