Not so much Jules, it's not the venom so much as the catching method. They stay far away and use fuzzy silk to immobilise their prey , then when they are wrapped up they move in to bite (they have quite small jaws, so they nip at the weak spots - leg joints and such)

i have a house and garage full of pholcus ph's--and im further north than you,gordon.strangely enough,none of my friends say theyve seen them in their homes. i think my original must have hitched a lift in/on some furniture i bought from a dealer in the south!! im happy to leave them -though they havent been fulfilling their tenancy agreement to rid me of all the teg's! have had three massive beasts in the last few days......

My car is covered in spiddy webs atm... methinks they're zip-lining off the garden wall and bushes straight onto it overnight and then that's it -tis home (well my car is green, so they probs feel at home eh?! lol)
