| | | 2 spiders for Id Have shown these before and had a few guesses, was just looking for some more opinions. Pic one found on a sea wall, approx 2-3mm. Second on the bank of a reservoir, approx 5-7mm?
Pic 3 was found on a wall near a reservoir in Devon. Approx 3mm |

| | | Re: 2 spiders for Id Hm, difficult. Number one looks like Linyphiidae, number three looks a little like Pachygnatha degeeri, but it's hard to tell from the photo. Size fits the species anyway... |

| | | Re: 2 spiders for Id Personally, I think it matches P. degeeri better; that species is quite common and widespread; the S. albomaculata is rare in the uk (ony occuring here and there in the south) according to my literature (which doesn't mean it couldn't be one of course) |

| | | Re: 2 spiders for Id Body shape and patter of number three resemble Steatoda albomaculata more then they do Pachygnatha degeeri. But.... i am not saying it is Steatoda albomaculata as from this picture it is hard to make a decent call on that, but i am happy from looking at extensive pictures online of both spiders that this is not Pachygnatha degeeri.
As for it being rare in literature well.... from the few books i have seen that actually have the likes of Steatoda Nobilis in them They state that it too s rare... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
