| | | Why do orb spiders come out in autumn?
My garden is festooned by lovely webs and huge orb spiders.
Does anyone know why they come out at this time of year? Is it just their life cycle? |

They are around all year its just this is when they are at their largest and the plants are dying back so they are more noticable. |

This is one of my favorite times of year for that very reason. The spiders have now reached a good size and my jungle of a garden is just full of them!
The common garden spider is my favorite british spider, mostly because of their striking markings and their huge variation in colour. Your garden must be beautiful right now! |

I know, I keep putting off trimming the garden cos I hate breaking the webs! Have got some huge spiders, they are like jewels! |

The dew shows up the webs as well as the other reasons given.
