Whats spider is this!

First time on here, so hopefully this link works, can anyone tell me what this spider is called, Ive never seen anything like it, it's living near my front door and I'd rather it didnt get in.

Your spider looks to me an Amaurobius sp., which is the Latin name. Not all spiders have common English names so then you can only use the scientific one. That is a lot more reliable anyway!

Thanks Jason, I looked amaurobius up, there a different varieties, but going off the descriptions I guess this little lady is a amaurobius ferox. Also known as the 'black lace weaver spider' because of the faint pattern on her sac.

Nice mum though actively encourages her babies to devour her!
