| | | spider ID 2 Found on my back door. approx 4-5mm. Although not usually found near human habitation, I think by the leaf pattern and shorter pedipalps this may be a male Zygiella x-notata? |

| | | Re: spider ID 2 Good evening Seb,
Interesting. A fairly small abdomen... those I've seen have usually been bigger. Hungry maybe?! Oh, yes male with those boxing gloves! Looks like he may have been on the look-out for a sparring partner...
You say it's not usually found near human habitation. I usually find spider in the kitchen, as do others - in fact this is one species that will carry on indoors throughout the winter. There is another Zygiella, however - Zygiella atrica - I suspect that's the one you mean, that is found away from people usually. I don't think yours is that though, as it looks a little greyer. The small size of the abdomen makes inspecting it harder! I'll await an Arachnid expert on this
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: spider ID 2 Hi Jason
Nice to hear from you again. Apologies you are correct I have confused my Zygiella's! I have a Z.atrica male and he has the extended pedipalps, hence my guess at Z.x-notata, I hope so as I have the female of this species. Sorry I dont have any other pics | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
