Argiope bruennichii
Im off for a school trip in just under 2 weeks to bournemouth, cant remember where abouts but in the are and at this time of year will there be any Argiope bruennichii about?

You might be lucky. Still quite a few around London last weekend. You could also look for the egg sacs. Good luck- they are stunning critters!

Well Argiopes was about yesterday,at Lordswood, Southampton,I had a female crawl on to the back of my hand,it was quite benign and dropped off without causing any problems,I was searching in the grass and didnt see it,they can sometimes be difficult to spot,this one gave me a suprise!!
