What is this spider do?

what kind of spider is this? and I'm really interested what's his lifespan?

It's a female Wasp Spider, Argiope bruennichi. She will die in the next few weeks, with an egg sac overwintering; the young seen from late spring.

Not a clear photo but I would say it is an Argiope bruennichi female. The males are much smaller and rather plain looking.

I'm not totally sure of the full life cycle of this species but it will probably die during the autumn after producing eggs. Most spiders only live a few months as adults in the wild; although a few species, mostly females, can survive for a year or slightly more under ideal conditions.

got a great picture of the egg case the other day, thought the web was around an old seed head first of all until i checked it out on the internet

It was supposed to have quoted geoff... it was a counter point to his statement "Most" spiders live only a few months.

Steatoda's, Tegenaria's, Segestria, all can live for several years.

The garden spider (Araneus diadematus) is between 1 & 2 years.

So the females of 3 or 4 species can live for a year or slightly more. I'm not sure exactly how many species there are in the UK but I still say that most have relatively short lives as adults; including Argiope bruennichi.
