| | | Red Spider identification Hi, i have attached an image of a spider found in our room today. Does any one have idea what type it is? it is around 1.3cm in size and a deep orange/red colour.
Many thanks, Nic |

| | | Re: Red Spider identification I will await some replies from the experts with interest. The only thing I can think of offhand is Araneus alsine male, but that is an uncommon larger woodland spider.
The only other species which matches the size is Nigma puella, but that is also a rare southern species.
As a long shot, how about a common but excessively coloured young Araneus diadematus. |

Here are some additional images.
i was hoping it might be a european garden spider? Araneus diadematus? but was unsure of the markings being a bit of a spider novice. we found it in the middle of the floor, dead on its back.... looks perfectly healthy otherwise!
