We found this spider in our house last night, He doesnt look very nice. Can anyone tell me what it is or if he is nasty
It is very Red as well

It looks like a Woodlouse Spider, Dysdera sp. They have larger mouthparts than other spiders in order to pierce woodlouse exoskeletons. That said, they can even give us a bit of a nip in self-defense - on rare occasions! |

| | | Re: Weird Spider Dysdera (crocata), I think, a woodlouse eating spider. And they can hurt! But no real damage. Some folks get localised itching. There was a load of hype about the venom some time back but it proved to be guff. Typical newspaper hysteria!
