Spider in car park


Ooops I have posted this in the Unidentified insects forum by muistake so apologies to all concerned.

This chap was spotted in a car park as we had a picnic.

I would love to know what it is called please.

On your other post, Jason has suggested Araneus quadratus which is quite possible. They can vary a lot in abdominal colouration but yellow is one of the common forms.

I can't quite twist my head around to see the relevent parts but think it is a male. In which case the small abdomen fits perfectly.
