Small British Spider

I've just read the Huge British Spider thread and thought about the encounter I had with a much smaller species- a jumping spider.
A couple of days ago whilst brushing my teeth, I noticed a tiny speck of a spider sitting by the soap watching me. I got my glassses on for a closer inspection and could see that it was a species of jumping spider. It was too smalll for a proper stab at id but my goodness was it fiesty. I tapped my finger about an inch away from it and it squared up to me! Each time I tapped, it swivelled around in the direction of my finger and eventually leapt onto my nail!
It occurred to me that if we had a species of jumping spider, about the same size as our biggest tegenarias, we might have a bit of a problem on our hands. I think jumping spiders have a brilliant attitude, obviously believing that they're a million times bigger than they are, don't back down, quick and brave and full of spirit. A real Brit. I love them.

A great story Jules. Yes, I love them too, True Brits as you say! Great photographic subjects as well, not only does the results of an ambush give plenty of scope for images, but as you say, they're brave and inquisitive and often standing up and look right into the lens!
