| | | Re: Please can you identify this spider? It's a male Tegenaria sp - it's breeding time for these guys (late summer - early autumn), so you may see them quite often. It won't do you any harm - they're just looking for females who set up home in your house (and who you've never noticed) - they do a good job keeping down pests.
You may find them in your bath more than often (just drape a long piece of toilet roll over the edge of the bath so they can get out )

| | | Re: Please can you identify this spider? Hi,
Thanks ever so much for the information and the great link to the spider ladder.. I will get my 12 year old onto making them for the spiders!
I'm afraid I got hubby to pop it into the shed for me in the end as no-one would go into the bathroom with it in and we have our house up for sale so didn't want to put off the would be buyers when they came this morning.. I did feel guilty about it though I try to keep spiders in the house and try not to get rid of their webs very often, but it's a bit embarrassing telling house hunters why the webs are there.. it sounds a bit lame and I'm sure they think I'm just too lazy to hoover them up.. but I don't care lol.
We're up late tonight because both dd's found a poorly mouse that one of our cats had left outside the back door so they have been in the back garden putting it into a disused chicken hutch for the night to see if it will survive.. they have given it some cereal, bread, water and a small piece of chocolate so fingers crossed! It does have a limp though so we'll have to see.
Thanks again,
Carrie ~x~ |

| | | Re: Please can you identify this spider? I found a large female of this species last week on the inside of my bedroom net curtains along with the much smaller male. Both of these received the 'get out of here' salute from me!!!!!
