| | | Giant spider? Apparently, in the Cambrian era, there was a spider the size of a dinner plate. Can anybody tell me what it was called?
Sorry if its not about 'British' wildlife, but back then the entire of Earths landmass was one big continent, so Britan was on it somewhere
Sorry, i'm new here.
~Thanks, Vipes.

| | | Re: Giant spider? Actually, there's a spider nowadays thats as big as a dinner plate Theraphosa blondi, the goliath bird eating spider (a Theraphosidae sp, (Tarantula))
It grows to around 10 inches.
The one you're thinking of is a misdiagnosed fossil - it's actually a sea scorpion not a spider.

I never knew it was a Scorpion. Did it live in the Sea like its namesake? |

| | | Re: Giant spider? Sorry, but the thing I was talking about was an actual spider. It was once featured on BBC's 'Walking with Monsters.' It was my fault as i described the era as Cambrian instead of Carboniferous, sorry.
I found the crature I wanted, it was the Mesothelae, which did turn out to actually be a sea scorpion! XD | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
