Asda Supermarket Spider attack ID Needed

Hi,

I was working at my local asda when this spider came out from the bananas. The bananas in question were from cameroon. It had lots of dead babies around it. Can anyone ID It please?

Heteropoda venatoria - Banana spider.

Love these spiders and have frequently kept them, when contacted by supermarkets in situations like yours. They are actually welcomed in houses in their native countries as they keep the bugs down. They will only become defensive if feeling threatened, and perhaps with young about (dead or not). If you don't want it you can send it to me

Thanks, does it bite/poisonous? Should I be worried?

All but one species of spider are venemous, so yes. I can only surmise that a bite from one of these would be pretty painful, so you should treat it with caution and respect. They are also very fast movers when they want.
There are fewer species getting thru' our ports these days with refrigeration and pesticides used.
