Mother salad spider
She appeared on my salad leaves with the attractively coloured egg-sac. Name please someone?

Yes, a nice-coloured egg mass. Yes, so you'll want a name for them, won't you. Well, I've often thought Sally makes quite a nice name, Sally the Spider. Yes, I like that. I suspect you'll need quite a few names as I doubt she's expecting just the one baby!

Oh sorry, you mean her scientific one! Oh, I am sorry...

I think she's a white-ish form of Enoplognatha, maybe E. ovata - the Candy-stripe Spider. I saw a predominantly yellow form a month back, so it seems variable.

Sally it is!!!!! Thanks Jason. She has now moved the eggs under the edge of the planter so I shall keep an eye open for developments. Very protective parents aren't they?
