| | | Re: Big-eyed spider with orange moustache I'd say this is probably a Euophrys species as the last one, though some have undergone name changes. I can't find any specific mention of the orange 'moustache', though a few have orange hairs on the 'front of the face'.
I notice also that the palps do not have the distinct white hairs of the last species. Any further photo's from above for example? The features appear quite fitting for Euophrys herbigrada at first look, though this is a Nationally scarce Notable A species on Cornwall, Devon and Dorset coasts and as such is unlikely.
So I'm not sure is the bottom line!

P.S. Superb pictures as ever, can I have your camera?

| | | Re: Big-eyed spider with orange moustache Nice one, Bruce - but do you have a dorsal? I think it's the Fencepost jumping spider, Marpissa muscosa... banded legs, orange moustache, long-haired pedis, correct location... surely? |

| | | Re: Big-eyed spider with orange moustache Good call on that! Marpissa muscosa looks good. Didn't realise the orange eye edges were so popular.

| | | Re: Big-eyed spider with orange moustache I'd be interested in a dorsal shot if you have one, Bruce.
The apparent distribution of this species is interesting, in that Roberts says "Uncommon but fairly widespread in England; more frequent in the south and east."
The distribution atlas shows the species as Nationally Scarce (Notable B) again reference to the south and east where it is 'widespread'. Have to say I'm surprised at the Nationally Scarce tag.
