| | | Possible Steatoda Nobilis? Hi guys.
Over the recent weeks I have seen lots of these in and around my house and I'm starting to get concerned I have a possible infestation.
So far I have seen these: - Behind guttering outside house
- Nesting (with many young) on the boot of an unused car
- Hiding under a loose flap of wallpaper in the house
- Nesting (with many young) on the back of an unused fridge in the garage
The webs I have found near the spiders have been fairly random, but very tough. They certainly don't have much of a pattern.
This one that I have managed to picture was found in my spare bed last night.
The ones I have seen have ranged from (body size) ~6mm-12mm
Given the fact I have a dog and that my fiancée is terrified of spiders, is there anything I can do to deter them from shacking up in and around my house? |

I will try and get some better pictures tonight if my camera wants to play well. |

| | | Re: Possible Steatoda Nobilis? Yes those pictures are of a Steatoda Nobilis.
As for detering them...... i can't really help.
Keep windows shut on a night time.
Remove cobwebs as soon as they apear.

| | | Re: Possible Steatoda Nobilis? I agree, you cannot deter them, they are here to stay. Close your windows at all times as they can be around at all hours, although mostly night time.
You need to remember that we are not their prey item and they would not normally waste their venom on us unless squashed or provoked in some way.
Their bite (often not felt due to their small size) is no worse than a bee sting in most people, unless you react badly to such things.
Just learn to live with them and keep them out of your house. They are here and we must accept that fact.
