| | | Re: Black spider ID Any further details such as habitat, web etc. Certainly has the look of Amaurobius ferox though possibly Coelotes species, Coelotes atropos or Coelotes terrestris (more common in South). Coelotes species were once Amaurobius, though at the time Amaurobius were Ciniflo!
No.9 Spider

| | | Re: Black spider ID Hey No.9. I found her in a pack of bricks in work. Backing onto them are big bramble bushes, fir trees and a small stream. The web was very messy. The strands seemed very thing and cotton wool like. Hope this helps |

| | | Re: Black spider ID I'd say it's definitely Amaurobius ferox from the feint abdominal pattern and general colour.

| | | Re: Black spider ID A ferox mature males have very distinctive white parts to the palps - unmistakeable. Your pictures don't show this. M. |

| | | Re: Black spider ID Thanks Mickmassie. The 2 pics together have eluded me for some time. Especially the last pic, very pale smudge pattern to the abdomen? Its very confusing | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
