| | | Spiderlings!!! Awwww... aren't they cute!
Just found them outside my back door in a densly packed ball. Touched the web by mistake to take the photo (had to get in close and knocked it with the lens lol!) and they all exploded outwards along the silk No sign of a parent, so I presume they're on their own now?
What are they Thankies!

So am I right in thinking that they're on there own now - no parental care? I want to keep an eye on them and make sure they make into the world unscathed - tho having said that it's chucking it down atm and they're getting wet!!! How long will it be before they leave the safety of the silk nest??

| | | Re: Spiderlings!!! Yes, the females generally die in the first frosts.
These guys will stay in a ball for a couple of moults then they'll spread out as they'll start to prey on each other.
Many won't survive, and only a few will reach adulthood.

| | | Re: Spiderlings!!! If you blow on them very gently, they move out of the ball. Stop blowing, they move back in.
