spotted this spider on the way home from work today, never seen a green on before, could someone please tell me what it is?

It's likely a Green Orb-weaver - Araniella sp., and either A. cucurbitina or A. opisthgrapha. They can only really be seperated by microscopic examination... |

But yes, in all likelihood its either A. cucurbitina or A. opisthographa (watch those typos Jason  )

| | | Re: green spider id please No, its on an orb web - Nigma walckenaeri builds a cribellate web (think a loose fluffy sheet) on a curled leaf, which they hide underneath.

We have around 650 species of spider in the UK and they come in lots of colours!
