| | | Jumping spider with yellow pedipalps Stockgrove Country Park, Beds.
Size: ~4mm.
Well at least I think it's a jumping spider - it certainly moved like one. The palps were bright lemon yellow and stood out noticeably to the naked eye. Help with identification appreciated.

| | | Re: Jumping spider with yellow pedipalps It's a female Heliophanus spp, yes she's a jumping spider.
Hard to tell which species from these shots (though they are great shots!)
Any more of her?

Hmmmm.....I only have one other viewpoint and unfortunately the shot didn't turn out that well. Here it is anyway:

| | | Re: Jumping spider with yellow pedipalps Hmm Pity, I needed to see her back legs (from the top).
Obviously an epigyne shot also

| | | Re: Jumping spider with yellow pedipalps Okay.....I did ask her if she'd pose for an epignyne shot. It was the wrong move! Those big green eyes just stared right into mine. I knew exactly what she was thinking - she looked surprised, hurt, disappointed in me - I felt dirty. I thought about trying the "it's purely for scientific purposes" line - but I knew she'd already made up her mind and there was no going back.
We stood looking at one another for what seemed an eternity - then she just turned and walked away....

| | | Re: Jumping spider with yellow pedipalps Have a look at H. flavipes, Bruce. But not a positive ID without other angles as Venger said.
But just going by the 'law of averages' I think that apart from H. flavipes and H. cupreus the rest of the 'runners' are outsiders which generally are rare or live in specific habitats. |
