| | | What spider Sorry if this a repeat but...
What is the most dangerous arachnid (to humans) in the U.K?
And also are those tiny black and yellow jumping spiders painful? |

| | | Re: What spider There are no species 'native' to the UK that could be classed as of 'medical importance' to humans. A few non-native species now established here do have some limited effect from their envenomation as do a few native species. Below is a link to verified accounts of spider bites in the UK. Perhaps the administrators could make a ‘sticky’ of this on the spider section as it comes up so frequently and causes much debate?
As for the jumping spider ( Salticus scenicus) I know of only one personal record from the bite of a mature male. Secondary infection was the main problem but no symptoms from envenomation.

| | | Re: What spider the worst i can think of (i'm no expert) would be the bite of the woodlouse spider. they have enlarged chelicera for braking through the exoskeletons of woodlice. they only bite if you aggravate them though |

British species in my opinion are extremely hard to keep in captivity, ie. in containers. Surprisingly you will struggle to replicate the conditions they require.
Tegenaria species - House spiders are easiest if not the only suitable UK species to keep in captivity.
