| | Can someone tell me if this is a false widow please!? My wife noticed this spider that has set up home outside our kitchen window and I'm not sure if it's a false widow or not.
Please could someone have a look at the photo and let me know if it's likey to be or not as I think it may be but I'm not expert.
Thanks. |

Is that bad?!
I've read that they have a nasty bite etc..etc..
I'm not a big spider fan, in fact if they look at me the wrong way I run screaming like a small child!!
do you think it would come into the house?
Should I try and move it or just leave it be??

| | | Re: Can someone tell me if this is a false widow please!? From the looks of it she's been there a while, I wouldn't be too worried.
The can bite, yes, doesn't mean they will though - it's always in self defense - they aren't interested in us at all (they eat insects not people )
Treat her with the same respect as you would a wasp - they can sting, but they don't always do they? Spider bites are quite rare, much rarer than wasp stings.
I'd leave her where she is, she not doing you any harm.

I notice that other people have said where they are (in case people are interested in the locations of the spiders???).
anyway, if it helps I'm in East Berkshire.
Thanks Again. |

| | | Re: Can someone tell me if this is a false widow please!? Yes, it's reasonably important - certain species occupy certain areas of the UK (though they are spreading) so it helps to ID them if we know where you are.
