| | | Can anyone identify this spider? I found this spider earlier on in our kitchen, it came out from behind a cupboard - there appears to be a messy mass of web and possibly a nest there. We're in East Devon and in a very old cottage and see all sorts of spiders and other wildlife in the house. This is the first of this species i've seen though, my suspicions are that it's some type of widow but i'm no expert. Any help would be appreciated!

| | | Re: Can anyone identify this spider? Do have a size for it (ignoring legs please) - It's a female Steatoda spieces, from the looks of it, with the annulated legs I'd go for Steatoda bipunctata.
Size would help loads - sharper photos would work too

| | | Re: Can anyone identify this spider? Hmm yup looks more like a S.nobilis than a S.bipunctata - thanks for altering the pic Ian.

Can I ask where in England you are? This is a useful question in mapping the spread of S.nobilis.

| | | Re: Can anyone identify this spider? Thanks for the replies, the spider is now in a field out the back of our house.
Naturegirl, i'm in East Budleigh, Devon.
I've found all sorts of different spiders in the last few days now and am actually quite intrigued! One which I couldn't identify though came out from the outside wall, it was blue and red in colour! Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a photo but i'll try to if I see it again. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
