| | | Can someone ID this spider please ey all,
yesterday i walked into a cobweb, looked up above my head and saw this very scary spider. I am no fan of spiders and have a mild fear, but this one didnt look friendly.
I took a picture of it as it was in a public toilet in a bar.
It was maybe 2 inches in length, maybe a tiny bit bigger.
If anyone can help me identify it i would be greatful
Thanks

| | | Re: Can someone ID this spider please Thats correct Squishy,
I know this website is about Britain, but there seemed to be alot of experts on here, I hope this doesnt exclude my thread with the spider being in Mexico.
The red tinges were deffinatly on the body. The web i remember as being thick.
please let me know if you need anymore info
Thanks |

| | | Re: Can someone ID this spider please DOH! Can't think why I said Steatoda
I knew there was a reason for asking where you were.
I'd say a Latrodectus species, a relative of the Black Widow. Not sure which one yet, there's around thirty different ones, though less than ten possibles in your area I think. Latrodectus Tredecimguttatus (European/Northern Mediterranean species)would be my shot in the dark.
.................and welcome to WAB
You should have plenty more excellent spiders to picture on here!

| | | Re: Can someone ID this spider please Thanks for looking into it No 9 Spider.
I thought it was possibly a black widow, or a relative, but venemous snakes & spiders are not too common around this specific area, though being a tropical climate you can never rule them out.
Thanks again for looking into it, it was so creepy, though i do have a fear of spiders
