| | | Re: spide in Richmond Pk Yes, Lycosidae family. Difficult to go any further when viewed from just one angle, even with a good clear photo like this one.
Going for a long shot bet (apparently that does work out sometimes) I would guess Pardosa possibly P. monticola. But that is just based on colour, which is very unreliable in this species. I'm working on the carapace colouration and the legs having dark spotty marks on the femora with the remaining leg area clear.
According to my book, Hygrolycosa rubrofasciata could also feature in the colouration details but that is a rather rare species that likes damp areas so I wouldn't suggest this as the most likely species.
So, I think Lycosidae possibly Pardosa is probably as far as you can hope to get with this photo. But see if one of the experts can have a flash of brillance and suggest something else. |
