| | Lycosidae Hi Guys,
I was over at Fowlmead to-day and found these two little beauts, size of both, about 4-6mm head and body, they were in different locations but both were on the leaf litter, I'm sure that they are Lycosidae because of the eye set, and that the first pics 1 & 2 are Pardosa spp, possibly P. Hortensis??
The second pics 3 & 4 might be Pirata but again I'm not sure,
I would appreciate a second or third oppinion on them.
Thank you in advance,
Duncan.

| | | Re: Lycosidae I would suggest that they are all Pardosa.
The first 2 images could also be P. amentata; if placing bets, I would be tempted to choose that one instead. But they are impossible to seperate from photos, even high quality images from several angles are difficult.
Lately, I have been seeing dark spiders which look like Pirata but with insufficient white spots. The best I have been able to do is just label them as unidentified Pardosa. It will take a microscope and quite a bit of knowledge to positively ID them - and I don't posess either! |
