How true are those colours and any idea of length, excluding legs?
My first thought, based chiefly on eye position and colour, was Araniella cucurbitina female which has a green abdomen that can be a bit yellowish.
The web does sound a bit like one of the Theridiiae family and Enoplognatha ovata springs to mind but I can't really match up the eye position.
If the colours are correct, we did have a specimen with a yellowish coloured abdomen like that a little while ago but I can't remember what it turned out to be.
Perhaps this is one for the experts. |

| | | Re: nesting spider I would agree with A. quadratus, she looks as if she is still full of eggs. You can get a dramatic change of size and colour when the eggs are laid, she may turn bright red as the abdomen shrinks.

I have seen one that was white, red and green, like a plastic spider.
This is pretty well the biggest spider in the country (not individually, more on a species basis).
