| | | spider ID another spider i have found on my wall length about ~8-10mm
i'm thinking maybe Harpactea rubicunda or a Dysdera crocota? ( H. rubicunda seeming more likely, as i don't think the chelicerae are particularly large, though my book says they have only occured in the south, are they more widespread now?)

| | | Re: spider ID Hi Adam
I believe the distinction between the two woodlouse spiders is size and the presence of a notable spine on one of the legs. Yours seems to lack this, but I don't know if that means it's D. crocata or D. rubicunda from that!
What's the chelicerae? I assume it's male from the palps. |

| | | Re: spider ID Do you have any other photos?
It's not either of those - from what I can see it has 8 eyes.
Hedging towards a Clubiona spp, but I really need to see another shot.

| | | Re: spider ID i only caught the specimen about an hour ago, and i've still got him (though releasing this afternoon) so if you tell me what angle you want a photo from, i'll try my best. i can also get him under a microscope without harming him, if there is anything you could gain from that. (i could try a sketch of the palps, though i'm not sure that would help).
i'm pretty sure it's a mature male, jason, and the chelicerae are the appendages with the fangs (they are notably large on Dysdera)
EDIT -----|
i've checked some palp details for Clubiona and C. corticalis leaps out at me, the palp detail is a pretty much perfect match, plus my specimen does have a clear abdominal pattern

| | | Re: spider ID i hope you're joking meta! (dont worry, i get it )
i've spent a while scouring my books and the internet, and i'd be content to leave it as a probable C. corticalis
(anyway, i released him half an hour ago )
